Piazzola
Reunion is a film that can be defined like a dream comed
true.
The American jazz musician Gary Burton, one of the world's
number one vibraphonist, joined Astor Piazzolla in 1987
to give life to The New Tango, one of those albums that
crosses musical frontiers and marks a turning point
in music, starting with its combination of the melancholy
of tango with the refined harmonies and improvisations
of jazz (as had ocurred in 1974 with the meeting of
Astor and Gerry Mulligan on the album Reunion Cumbre).
Now, Piazzolla Reunion tries to revive the magic of
that unforgettable moment, as Burton has gathered the
original musicians of Piazzolla´s band (the violinist
Fernando Suarez Paz, the contrabassist Hector Console,
the pianist Pablo Ziegler and the guitarrist Ricardo
Lew) for this memorable concert, with plenty of songs
by the deceased Argentinian composer and bandoneonist
Astor Piazzolla. The album includes brilliant versions
of the Invierno Porteño, Michelangelo 80 and La Muerte
Del Angel, among many others.
Piazzola Reunion its a marvel from start to end. |
